“Bit-tibdiliet is-settur tas-servizzi finanzjarji huwa sabiħ” – Il-PM

It-tibdiliet li qed jagħmel dan il-Gvern f’pajjiżna jippromettu għall-futur sabiħ għas-servizzi finanzjarji f’pajjiżna. Dan qalu l-Prim Ministru Robert Abela waqt messaġġ li għadda b’mod virtwali waqt it-tlettax-il konferenza annwali ta’ Finance Malta.

Spjega li qabel Finance Malta f’pajjiżna ma kienx hawn distinzjoni bejn l-isforzi sabiex jinġiebu l-operaturi tas-servizzi finanzjarji f’pajjiżna u l-isforzi sabiex dawn ikunu regolarizzati. Spjega kif mis-sena 2012 pajjiżna ra tkabbir ta’ 52% f’dan is-settur. Tkabbir li huwa ekwivalenti għal €325 miljun. Huwa stqarr li l-Gvern qed iżid il-fondi għall-istituzzjonijiet filwaqt li qed iwettaq tibdiliet bla preċedent dwar il-governanza.

Il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela stqarr: “The decline of corresponding banking requires us to seek alternative approaches exploiting new payment avenues and emerging new fintech solutions. We have to up our game in terms of regulatory oversight, which is why we are increasing so drammatically the budgets of our institutions and carrying out unprecedented governance changes.”

Dwar il-pressjoni sabiex is-sistema ta’ intaxxar tkun waħda komuni bejn il-membri stati tal-Unjoni Ewropea, il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela spjega kif it-taxxa għandha tibqa’ tkun deċiża mill-pajjiż fuq livell nazzjonali.

Dr. Abela sostna: “On tax we will remain firm, cooperating with other jurisdictions but continuing to make the point that taxation needs to be organised on a national level as best suited to our circumstances.”

Il-Prim Ministru spjega kif il-Kummissjoni Ewropea u aġenziji internazzjonali ta’ kreditu diġà rrikonoxxew l-isforzi bla preċedent li qed isiru f’pajjiżna u l-bidla fid-direzzjoni favur governanza tajba.

Huwa qal: “The European Commission has a number of times formally communicated its approval of the changes we are enacting. International rating agencies have also noted the change of pace.  Governance is one of the five pillars of our economic vision. I am convinced that with the changes we are making the future of our financial services sector will be bright.”
