Is-soru li tgħix fis-Sirja biex tgħin lil dawk fil-bżonn

Ma’ kull minuta li tgħaddi, iċ-ċkejknin u l-familji fis-Sirja jkunu f’ħalq il-mewt. Jistkennu minn xita ta’ bombi u minn dik l-isparatura, bit-tama li l-għada jerġgħu jaraw id-dawl tax-xemx, li minkejja li mogħtija bid-duħħan iswed tal-gwerra għalihom hija t-tama li qalb il-mewt għad għandhom ħajja.

Realtá li kulħadd irid jaħrab minnha, iżda li s-Soru Annie Demerjian għażlet li tagħti minkejja li wara l-istudji tagħha f’Ruma setgħet tgħix ħajjitha fil-paċi u f’post sigur.

Magħna qassmet esperjenza li kellha waqt li kienet qed tgħallem lit-tfal  f’Aleppo fil-qalba ta’ gwerra qalilha, esperjenza qarsa li qatt m’hu se tkun qed tinsa.

“Suddenly we heard a noise on the ceiling and when we looked we saw the wood coming off the ceiling we knew that it was hit by a sniper so I said to the young people please come far from the window and let us continue the exam. Without any discussion they just sat a little bit far from the window, on the floor and one girl sat under the desk of the teacher but everybody continued writing the exams. I can’t forget this scene, I went to tears, because when we finished I said to them you know you are the hero of our time.”

B’din is-soru kuraġġuża, iddeskriviet xi jfisser li tgħix fis-Sirja, dan hekk kif anke hi kienet biss sekondi ‘l bogħod mill-mewt. Għażla li għamlet biex tkun spalla għal dawk li l-karba tagħhom qed tindifen mal-ħoss tal-bombi.

“Sometimes we don’t sleep… because of the bombs and the fighting going around. We’ve been there during very difficult times, without electricity, water, years without water sometimes even for 35 days.”

Annie, fissret kif it-tbatija li qed jgħix il-poplu Sirjan ma tistax tispjegaha iżda tistá biss tħossha, meta tara dak il-missier u dik l-omm jfittxu  lil uliedhom qalb it-tifrik. Bil-ġugarell ta’ dawn it-tfal saru l-balal li xi kultant dawn iċ-ċkejknin jispiċċaw fil-mira tagħhom. Is-Soru spjegatilna kif hi flimkien ma’ persuni oħra jsibu l-kuraġġ li jitilqu l-kumditá u jgħixu din it-tbatija flimkien mal-poplu sirjan.

“When you think they are your people, you don’t think about the dangers just you know that you are helping your brother, your sister, your mother and father. You take the courage from that and of course this situation makes you stronger to continue ahead and helping your own people. Its our people.”
